Trinity Anglican Parish
A Bible Study on St. Paul's Epistles to the Corinthians
Class Announcement
“1st Epistle to the Corinthians”
“2nd Epistle to the Corinthians”
Trinity’s weekday Bible Study will resume at 11:00 am on Wednesdays, beginning on September 7th, 2011. A weekday study group permits people attending other churches on Sunday to participate in our discussions so feel free to invite friends to this open discussion.
We are studying St. Paul’s 1st and 2nd Epistles to the Corinthians this fall. These Epistles are not doctrinal letters in the sense of Paul’s Epistle to the Romans or the Epistle to the Hebrews. They contain no organized presentation of the Christian faith. They deal primarily with ethical and practical questions. They deal with how to hold the faith in spite of contacts with the Hellenistic world. The challenges Paul faced at Corinth have many parallels in our world today.
This Church at Corinth had to be one of Paul’s most challenging efforts. Paul wrote at least 4 letters to the people of Corinth. He wrote a letter warning them about avoiding sexually immoral people. He then wrote 1st Corinthians. After another quick visit, he wrote the “letter of tears.” Finally after a reconciliation effected by Titus, he wrote 2nd Corinthians. Both of these Epistles have great bearing on the challenges we face today.
